Note: The additional pictures taken on Feb. 19 are now included in the gallery.

Hi all. The individual portraits taken on Monday, Feb. 5 are available for viewing. Instead of the "Media Gallery" I used a different presentation method so that identification of the pictures would be easier. Please see the gallery by clicking here. Or you can go to "http://www.tcabasketball.net/images/2007portraits/" in your browser. Note that the picture number will be below the thumbnails and look like "TCA2007Portrait###". With ### being the unique number. You can navigate through the gallery by clicking your mouse on the right side of the picture to move forward or the left side of the picture to move backwards. Of course, you can always click on a thumbnail to view a picture also.

If your child missed the session on Monday or you would like a retake, note that a makeup session will be held on Monday February 19th during practice at Taylor.

Some have been asking about how to get copies of pictures that are taken during the games. Therefore this will be a good time for an informational article about that subject.

First, Action pictures: In previous years action pictures costs $1.00 each. Because the cost of printing as gone down a bit 4x6 copies of game pictures will be $.75 each up to ten. After ten they are just $.50 each. That's on a per family basis not a per order basis. So once your family orders 10 pictures the rest are $.50. If you desire a 5x7 the cost will be $2.00 and 8x10s will be $7.50. Note that some pictures due to the nature of "action" photography may be focused a little soft at the 8x10 size. To identify the photo(s) that you want printed make note of the main gallery name and game (ie. "Junior High Girls 2006-2007") and the specific gallery (ie. "01/29/2007 - JHG vs Buckholts") and the picture identified by number at the bottom left when viewing full size (ie. "Image 2 of 48").

Second, Portraits: Mr. Rector will be taking portraits of the players beginning next week. The standard cost for prints is on a per unit basis. One unit is defined like this: 8x10 = 1 unit, 2 5x7s = 1 unit, 3 4x6s = 1 unit, and 8 wallets = 1 unit. The cose is $7.50 per unit. The portraits will be custom color corrected, adjusted for exposure, and sharpened. Note also that if after the initial portrait is taken if you don't see a shot that captures your child to your satisfaction, Mr. Rector will retake the photo until you are happy.

Third, Keepsakes: Every year Mr. Rector produces a "keepsake". This is a special 8x10 presentation of your child's portrait along with their respective team photo. A copy of the keepsake from last year is shown below. Because of the effort put into this customized composite the cost is $12.00. If you have more than one child each one is $10.00 after the first one. A keepsake will be created for every player unless the parent tells Mr. Rector not to create one. They are delivered at the year end banquet and payment is expected at that time. Don't let finances get in the way. Mr. Rector is very understanding and very flexible. Please talk to him personally to make other arrangements if finances are tight.

The Victoria tournament is once again behind us. This is always bittersweet because we had so much fun but have to wait until next year to play there again. Congratulations go out to the organizers from CHEC in Victoria for another great tournament. This year saw a couple of different gyms and at least one new team. We look forward to participating next year.

The teams wrapped up their play on Saturday, the 20th. The Jr. High Boys played in the third place game against SATCH from the North Houston-Conroe area. Without the play of Isiah who was playing with the Varsity at the same time and Leighton who was down with an ankle injury, the Mavericks were hard to beat.

The Jr. High Girls ended the tournament also playing for third place. But the always tough CHSA Wolverines from Pearland, just south of Houston, simply shut the Lady Warriors down. We're all proud of the girls for playing a tough game and not giving up. They had a tie for third record wise (2-2) but the SATCH Mavericks took the trophy due to the head-to-head tie-breaker.

The Varsity Boys ended the tourney against the San Marcos Panthers. To this point in the season the guys were 1-1 against the panthers so this promised to be a good game. At half-time the Warriors led by one point but the Panthers came out in the third quarter with a big run that was not to be overcome by the Warriors. The guys look forward to playing them again.

There's still lots of basketball to be played this year so be sure to stay-tuned.

The Varsity Boys Warriors had another tournament game against the Satch Mavericks. The Warriors, still smarting from a loss earlier in the day came out strong. They played tough defense and a fast offense and had built up a half time lead of almost thirty points. With lots of opportunity to work on plays and get get everyone into the game the Warriors eventually won by 32 points 72-36.

The Varsity Boys Warriors play the San Marcos Panthers at 1:45 tomorrow in the consolation game.

It's been both a fun and heartbreaking day for the TCA Warriors. The Jr. High TCA Lady Warriors started the day off with a win via forefit by the HCYA Warriors. They were unable to make the early game. In an early afternoon game the Lady Warriors play the FEAST Patriots from San Antonio. They played a great game marked by tenacious defense and timely scoring. The final score was 31-21with the Warriors on the winning end. That makes the Jr. High Lady Warriors 2-0 in the tourney.

The Junior High boys team started off the tournament against an always tough San Marcos Panthers team. We've never beaten them at the junior high level. Like the girls team the guys played a grilling defense that resulted in many steals and scoring opportunities. The Warriors were able to take the lead from the beginning and keep it the whole game. Even when the starters needed a rest the bench provided great plays, steals, and timely scoring. The final score was 56-41. Congratulations to the Jr. High Boys Warriors. They play next against a probable tough CHSA team from Pearland, just south of Houston.

The Varsity Boys met a new team to the Victoria tourney, the Odessa Blaze. The Warriors seemingly broke open the game taking a 16 point lead into the fourth quarter. With about 6 minutes to play the Blaze went on a 13-0 run as the bottom of the net was hard to come by for the Warriors. In a close game down to the wire the Blaze took the victory 64-61. The Blaze are to be commended for great character in the come-from-behind win. Of course, we all know the character of the Warriors will have them back and ready for their next game against SATCH from north of Houston tonight at 8:00pm.

Be sure to look back here for more updates throughout the tournament.

The Varsity Boys Warriors, coming off a tiring weekend tournament in Bryan, played tough defense to defeat the Covenant Christian Warriors of Bastrop. The final score was 53-28 with both team scoring very few points in the first half. The defense lead by starting guards Bruce Dickson, Josh Rector and Todd Harris kept CC Bastrop from getting of many feared three pointers. Josh Lucas and Joe Patch provided the same when they were in the game. Inside the "Big Men" rebounded and kept CC from getting off many shots. Troy went down in the first half after he rolled his ankle but was up and walking without too much difficulty by game's end. Please pray for his quick recovery.

Bruce goes up for the shot.

Great news for photos this year. The picture galleries are integrated into the TCA web site. Simply go to the Media Gallery link a the top of the page. This will show you an overview of the galleries available. Right now there is on for Varsity Boys and Junior Varsity girls. There is also a general gallery which holds pictures that aren't specific to one team. For example, I have a gallery of pictures from the free throw shoot-out there. Also recent galleries are listed in the "What's New" area of the web site.

Comments are enabled so if you have a favorite picture feel free to leave a comment saying so. We will monitor comments so please treat this area with respect. There have been some instances with sites like this where "spammers" abuse the comment section. If you see a comment or comments that look like "spam" please let Jim Rector know. Note that you have to register on the site to leave comments.

We hope you enjoy this area. We may open up a gallery in the future where you can put your pictures. We're just trying to figure out a way to do it so that no inappropriate photos get posted.

General NewsWe hope you all like the new TCA Thorndale Warriors website. It's the best version yet! This article is an introduction to the fun things you can do on the site.

First, we want to encourage everyone to register. This will give you access to lots of the cool features of the site. It only takes a minute and we have security in place to keep search engines from capturing your email addresses. It will also make it easy to send you website information when needed.

    Things you can do:

Polls - We will put up polls from time to time. They will be fun polls and should spur discussion and comments. If you have an idea for a poll please contact Jim Rector.

Photo Gallery - As the season begins we will begin posting pictures from the games in the Photo Gallery. At some point we will create a public area in the gallery where some of our budding photographers can post their photos to.

Write Stories - We would like to have some TCA friends start writing game summaries and stories. This might be a good thing for some of our students that are interested in journalism or parents that want to help in adding value to the site. If you're interested please contact any TCA board member.

Hopefully this shows you some of the great things you can do on the site. Once again we want to encoruage you to register. This applies if you or your child plays on a Warriors team or you are a friend of the Warriors.
